Bonnie Blu
Kerry Blues
|
|
Bonnie Blu Kerries was established in early 1986 shortly
after the purchase in October, 1985 of Villanova's Bonnie Mais. There had
been other Kerries in the family from 1951 to 1979, but they were not show
dogs nor were they bred. Bonnie, as Villanova's Bonnie Mais was known,
became the foundation bitch for Bonnie Blu's future. From 1993 to mid 1998
the Kennel was known as Bonnie Blu-WBY as Gail Braverman, who had purchased
a Bonnie Blu Kerry, and I had a partnership to show and breed our Kerry
Blues. I am now back to Bonnie Blu Kerries and Gail will be breeding and
showing her Kerries under the prefix of Lake Isle. My daughter, Denise
Benincase, now assist me in showing, breeding and caring for the dogs.
Bonnie (1985-1998), although pointed, did not complete her
championship, but produced a litter sired by CH Curragh's Nijinsky in 1987.
From that litter, a male, CH Bonnie Blu's Top Hat, (below, left) became
the first Bonnie Blu champion. CH Wedgewood Luin's Bonnie Blu, ROM (Register
of Merit), (below, right), was purchased as a puppy and shown to her championship.

In 1991 CH
Bonnie Blu's Top Hatsired a litter out of CH
Wedgewood Luin's Bonnie Blu. In 1993, three Kerries from
the 1991 litter were shown and one bitch, CH
Bonnie Blu's Colleenfinished her championship with a Best of
Breed win at the fall Queensboro show, owner-handled by Denise.
In December of 1994, CH Bonnie Blu's Mickey Muldoon, (pictured right) Colleen's
litter mate, handled by owner-handler Chris Hugues, finished at the Lehigh
Kennel Club Show. Bitches ~ CH Bonnie Blu's Colleen and Bonnie Blu's Aelinn
of Yeats were bred in 1994, producing six puppies in each litter.
In 1996, Bonnie-Blu's Peppermintowned
by Errol and Gail dos Santos gained his championship earning dam, CH
Wedgewood Luin's Bonnie Blu Register of Merit (ROM).

The year 1995 was devoted to showing the Kerries rather than breeding.
Am/Can CH Bonnie Blu-WBY M. Beckons,"Maddy,"
made Colleen proud, earning her American and Canadian championships (with
multiple BOB's and Group Placements) before the age of twenty months.
A litter brother of Maddy's was shown in Puerto Rico. That year,
1995, also saw Am/Can CH Paxon's Bonnie
Blu-WBY Shade, "Shade," earn her Canadian championship,
with multiple group wins and a BISS at the Kerry Blue Terrier Club of Canada's
Specialty Show. In 1996, "Shade" earned her American championship.
Breeding during 1996 produced, 1998 Champions, Mex CH Bonnie Blu-WBY
Roaring Rapids (Rory) and Am CH Bonnie
Blu-WBY Mr Davidson (Harley) who
was Best Puppy at the Kerry Blue Terrier Club of Canada's 1997 Specialty
and Best Bred By Exhibitor at their 1998 show.

| It is always a pleasure to hear about one of our Kerries,
whether it be in a pet or show home. Although many of our dogs reside in
the continental United States we also hear from our Kerries in Mexico,
Puerto Rico, various Provinces of Canada or even Bosnia, where a
dog from a breeding of Bonnie Blu's My Lady Jessica and Am & Can CH
Kitehawk's Black Tie Affair resides. |
The Bonnie Blu Kerries' are of sound temperament, health
and conformation, all of which shows the results of our carefully planned
breeding program.
